Room 1 “Maximizing Parent Integration the IGNITE #loveinschools Way with Educator, Speaker, Author Joel Katte”

Facilitator Joel Katte

Joel Katte is an experienced secondary English teacher, elementary school principal, and district administrator for alternative schools. Throughout his career Joel has served students of all ages in both urban and rural settings. He has served the most at-promise students as well as the most gifted.

Joel is in his 25th year in education.  Nine of those years he served as an elementary school principal before becoming a district level administrator over alternative special programs for three years. In 2018, Joel returned to teaching high school English, so he could have more days to speak at conferences and for school districts. From 2018-2025, Joel taught at Success Academy, a dropout reengagement program. After Success Academy went to a regular school year schedule, Joel started teaching middle school English at Tates Creek Middle School, a Title 1 school in Lexington, Kentucky.

Joel has been a speaker/facilitator since 2013, and his IGNITE #loveinschools keynote addresses and professional learning experiences have been positively impacting schools and districts since 2015. His children’s book Finding You at the Zoo was written for all ages. Using that book, Joel created an Socio-emotional learning (SEL) curriculum entitled The Be More You Experience (10 videos for students with a 92-page teacher facilitation guide) for secondary schools. Joel loves speaking at conferences, district opening days, staff trainings/retreats, and student assemblies. I

In 2025, Joel created Ed Camp Central Kentucky that will become an annual event, and you can watch or listen to his podcast that tells the story of the evolution of #EdCampCKY.

Joel earned his Superintendent’s License from the University of Kentucky, Masters degree in Educational Leadership from Aurora University, and his Rank 1 degree in General Pedagogy from Morehead State University. For more information on Joel, visit www.joelkatte.com or follow him on Facebook, Instagram, X, Linked In, or Youtube.
