PandaPride ParentCamp welcomes enriching dialogue among Parents, Staff, and the community

The halls of West Park Place Elementary School echoed with laughter and conversation as PandaPride ParentCamp number 4 unfolded on April 24, 2024, from 5:00 to 7:15 pm. Gathering 64 family members, children, dedicated West Park Place staff, and engaged community members, the event was a testament to the power of collaboration and community spirit.

At the heart of ParentCamp’s magic is its unique format. Participants engaged in lively dialogues within circles led by trained facilitators, embodying the principles of choice and voice. As families and community members navigated through four themed rooms, the air buzzed with excitement and shared insights.

From brainstorming free summer activities to fostering resilience in children, from exploring math curriculum options to discussing simple gardening techniques, the collaboration rooms brimmed with valuable exchanges. While parents immersed themselves in enriching discussions, their children were cared for by the attentive West Park Place Elementary staff.

Amidst a dinner provided by the school, attendees shared their reflections. “I am grateful for West Park Place ParentCamp because we continue to build new connections and also receive new information about what’s going on,” expressed one parent, echoing the sentiments of many. The diverse perspectives from family, school, and community enriched the conversations, prompting action steps towards greater involvement within the school community.
