We are so excited about July 14th’s Virtual ParentCamp!  From putting community in the center of service-learning to a repeat privilege session with Cam Awesome (as requested by participants two weeks ago to have it repeated) to us being honored to host our first school district’s ARP-ESSER Community Conversation…it is going to be a great night!

Registration is open now!  https://www.parentcamp.org/event/2021-07-14-vpc.

Room-1-VPC-Cheryl Graff

Room 1  [Collaborate] – Community in the Center of Service Learning Projects

Facilitator:  Cheryl Graff (@msgraffsroom), Special Education Teacher/Learning Behavior Specialist, The Chicago High School for the Arts (@chiartshs)

We are thrilled that long-time ParentCamp cheerleader, Cheryl Graff was back as an attendee last week!  Welcome back Cheryl!  We were so excited that we turned around quickly and  grabbed her a facilitator this week.  She actually suggested the topic on her Twitter account (@msgraffsroom).  Cheryl is looking toward the fall and for ways to have students, families and community members work on service learning projects together to build into their community.  Join Cheryl in this room to learn what service-learning entails and help her brainstorm all the ways she AND you may be able to work with your schools to build into your communities.

Cheryl is a Special Education Teacher and a classically trained opera singer.

Room-2-Virtual ParentCamp - Cam Awesome

Room 2 [Strengthen] – Privilege:  What is it and what do I do with it? (Part 2)

Facilitator:  Cam F Awesome (@camfawesome), Diversity & Inclusion Consultant

When we came back for reflection time during the last National Virtual ParentCamp, it was very clear that people wanted to continue the privilege conversation.  So we asked Cam if he would come back and responded with a resounding, OF COURSE!  Even if you were not with us last time in this room, please join us, that is the beauty of ParentCamp, the conversations are never the same each week even if the topic is the same.

Cam is an Emmy Nominated, 6 time USA National Champion, 4 time Golden Gloves National Champion, 2 Time Olympic Trials Champion  Heavyweight boxer, and former Captain of the USA National boxing team. Cam Awesome is also a proud Member of the National Speakers Association.  Cam is a diversity consultant whose overall goal is to address “the elephant in the room” in a way to create change, not place blame.
