National Virtual ParentCamp takes place Feb. 8th!

Connect with parents, caregivers, educators, community members, anyone involved in a child’s life and build a support system across the country and across the globe! Virtual ParentCamps are facilitated conversations NOT presentations. The expertise is the entire room where everyone is seen, heard and valued. Our next Virtual ParentCamp takes place Wednesday, February 8th at 8pm EST. Attendees will have four sessions to explore and can move around freely. Room 1: Financial Aid Tips for College with Fred Stennis

Facilitator: Fred Stennis, Supervisor – Outreach Group U.S. Department of EducationFederal Student Aid

As a former financial aid director, Fred has over twenty-five years of experience assisting students, and serving families interested in education and opportunities beyond the secondary level. Prior to joining the Federal Student Aid Customer Outreach Group (COG), Fred served as Special Assistant to the General Manger in the division of Program Compliance. Working in each of these capacities through the years has provided Fred with a unique perspective in customer satisfaction, community outreach and program development.

Because of his first-hand knowledge of the student aid programs and his experience as a presenter, currently, he serves as Supervisor and Senior Advisor within the Student Experience and Aid Delivery (SEAD) division at Federal Student Aid.

Fred holds a B.S. in Business Management from Oakwood University in Huntsville, AL and M.S. in Management from Florida Institute of Technology. He is the president of the Home and School Association (H&S) at GE Peter’s Adventist School in Hyattsville, MD, and is a proud member of the Bowie Mitchellville, MD Alumni Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc., Life Member.

Room 2:  Supporting Teachers from Day 1 to Year 20 with Megan Steffen

Facilitator: Megan Steffen, Instructional Coach – Boone County Schools, KY

From English teacher to Instructional Coach, Megan Steffen been a passionate educator and learner for 17 years. Her work with new and veteran teachers alike drives her to find ways to support talented teachers from culture and climate work to mentoring programs.

Teachers are the foundation of any classroom, so recruiting, supporting and retaining the best talent available can make or break your school. Join Megan’s discussion about how you can help support teachers so that they not only take the job, but also stay.

Room 3 - Sara Truebridge

Faciliator: Dr. Sara Truebridge, Founder of Educating The New Humanity LLC and EdLinks™ LLC

Dr. Sara Truebridge is the author of Resilience Begins with Beliefs, a consultant, researcher, TED Talk presenter, and educator specializing in the area of resilience, combining her experience and expertise in the areas of research, policy, and practice to promote success and equity for all. Sara is the Education Consultant to the documentary, “In Search of Greatness.” She was also the Education Consultant on the films, “Beyond Measure” and “Race To Nowhere.” Sara is a faculty member in the Educational Leadership doctoral program at Southern New Hampshire University.

Room 4: How to Support Blended Families with Tramaine Charles-Jones

Facilitator: Tramaine Charles-Jones, Hanover, PA

Tramaine Charles-Jones is a certified Life Coach for Behavioral Therapy and Neuro-linguistic Programming. Her life goal is to assist children and blended families in any capacity with mental wellness. 

Tramaine is also currently pursuing her license to be a certified Counselor. Years of work experience has given her a knack for identifying people in need of support during difficult moments in life. Her passion for people keeps her devoted to this calling.

Tramaine enjoys listening to music, watching movies, and painting in her spare time as a form of relaxation. Her passion for helping blended families comes from her deep desire to offer alternative solutions to the challenges of those living in a blended family. 

Born in 1986 in Guyana, South America, Tramaine was raised in the US from the age of 11. Having been raised in a blended family, she understands the challenges experienced by these families. She hopes that through her company, The Kids Wellness Community Foundation, she will support and service blended families around the country. Tramaine is married and has four beautiful daughters, a bonus son and dog Lux.
