#ParentCampChat– Wednesday 11/6 9:30 pm ET/6:30 pm PT – Ready for Week 21 – Critically At-Risk:  There is no job description for this!

We have a very special guest this week.  Dr. Joe Hibbett (@joeymh) of the Boone County Schools in Boone County, KY.  Joe is the principal of the Alternative School and does a phenomenal job of engaged students and families back into education who we have previously lost.

Every educator has head the term “at-risk.”  Have parents/guardians?  It is interesting to note that caretakers of at-risk students report that they have no idea what the term “at-risk” means—nor that their child was identified as such.  Communication is essential with these families.  Furthermore, these families report often feeling amputated from the educational community.  Instead, their association is frequented with reactionary meetings initiated by the schools to discuss CONCERNS.  Education soon transforms from optimistic opportunities to STRESSFUL stimuli and the GAP begins.  How can educators close the GAP through communication with these families?
