Room 1  [Connect] – Running the Ultramarathon

Facilitator:  Beth Schoenlein, Parent, Central Michigan University (@CMUniversity), Non-Tenure Track Faculty Member, Ferris State University (@FerrisState

Each year, secondary schools devote a significant amount of time and energy working with students who need special accommodations using IEPs or 504 plans.  But what happens to that support system when those students go off to college? Through student disability services, most universities can provide help to navigate the transition successfully, guided by the model of proactive intervention by students, staff, and faculty.

Beth Schoenlein teaches English at Ferris State University.  She has taught for 26 years and is the mother of a 24-year-old son and a 21-year-old son.  Her youngest son is the one she has framed this session around.  She is an avid bird/wildlife watcher and photographer.

Room 2 [Connect] – Focusing on a Goal – #OneWord

Facilitator:  Dr. Ted Huff (@TedHiff), ParentCamp Coach, Missouri Leadership Development Specialist, St. Louis Regional Professional Development Center

Have you heard of selecting a #OneWord to focus on for a new year rather than making New Year’s resolutions?  Join Ted as he leads a conversation about selecting a #OneWord to help you focus your goals in 2022.  Ted has been selecting a #OneWord for a number of years and will share how it has helped him.  The room will help each other determine your #OneWords for the year if you choose to do so.  We will have a follow-up session quarterly for everyone to check in to see how your year is going.

Dr. Ted Huff is a retired Middle School Principal who now works alongside school administrators helping them as a professional coach. An avid supporter of family engagement, character education, and academic achievement for all.  He was previously named Missouri Middle School Principal of the Year.  And we are thrilled to announce that Ted will be joining us as a ParentCamp Coach helping us train and support schools as they begin their ParentCamp journeys.

Room 3 [Strengthen] – To be announced

We are working on finalizing the details for room 3, but please do not let that keep you from registering, remember, you can change rooms at any time during ParentCamp!
