McCullough Middle School’s ParentCamp was a powerful reminder of what happens when families and educators come together with a shared purpose—supporting our students.
Conversations centered around advocacy, transitions to high school, and meeting students where they are. One word stood out: belonging.

What a night at Thomas Edison ParentCamp 💛

There’s something powerful that happens when families come together with honesty, vulnerability, and a shared commitment to doing better for their kids—and that’s exactly what we experienced.

Parents shared real stories, supported one another, and reminded us all that we are not alone in this journey. The sense of community, connection, and encouragement in the room was truly inspiring.

✨ “We had a great time conversing and just gaining some encouragement from everyone.”
✨ “Although we have different backgrounds, we all could relate.”

In this Season 2 episode of The ParentCamp Podcast, host April F. Draine is joined by Julie Pile, President of ParentCamp, and ParentCamp coach Maz Ashraf for an inspiring conversation about what happens when parents move beyond their comfort zones and step into their power.

Maz shares her personal journey as a stay-at-home parent, immigrant, and mother navigating a new education system—first feeling like she was “just a parent,” and later realizing she is the parent. Together, the group explores how ParentCamp creates inclusive spaces where families feel safe, valued, and capable of contributing—regardless of language, background, or experience.

This episode is a celebration of growth, confidence, and community—and a reminder that when parents are given the opportunity, they rise.
